Aomori




With a population of 290.000 habitant, the town of Aomori in Japan is
especially a harbour city which conveys the good towards Hokkaido. It
is bordered of mountain.


The
city was build in 1625 by the second lord of the time Tsugaru
Yashichiro Moriyama. It was named Aomori  because the drill had a
quite green color and the blue marked sea  what formed Aomori
“Blue-green drill”. Aomori prefecture became prefecture in 1871. What
generated that the town of Aomori became the principal city in 1889
with a population of 28000. During this time one will note that railway
line Tohoku Trunk Line (1891) and Ou trunk Line (1905) opened to
connect Fukushima and Aomori. Then Seikan Ferry came which connected
Aomori to Hokkaido, which made it possible the town of put the first
step towards the modern world.


In 1910, a fire destroy at one hour of the afternoon on May 3, 5246
houses and killed 26 persons, the city was shaven in some hours.

During
the second world war, an American B29 of the army bombed on Aomori
and destroyed 90% of the city in two hours which destroyed the last 
vestige of the cultural inheritance.


In March 1985 after 23 years from work and 700 Billon of yen the line
Sikan Undersea Tunnel connected the two islands of Honshu and Hokkaido.
This tunnel was the longest tunnel of the world in its time. And three
year after the line Tsugaru Kaikyo was open.

In 1995 the airport of Aomori becomes the first airport of Tohoku north has to offer an air service with Seoul and Khabarovsk.
